what i've been sleeping on...

holy crap! this past month has been looking like a "Comeback" for these bands that i've grown listening too after my senior year of high school. some of them have either been blowing up or have fallen off the scene of this world.

Manchester Orchestra's "Mean Everything To Nothing"
the sophomoric LP & a follow up from "I'm Like a Virgin Losing a Child". Manchester Orchestra's "Mean Everything to Nothing" brings a progression from their older sound which was more "Folk'ish/Poppy-Alternative" to a more "Raspier and Slightly Hard/Upbeat Rock". i have been vibing on this along with As Cities Burn's "Hell or High Water" which was released at the same time.

Silversun Pickups' "Swoon"
Silversun's "Swoon" sounds like it could've been release along with their first album(Carnavas), which was a great album but "Swoon" could've been Disc 2 if "Carnavas" was a Double LP because of the similar sound. change works for others but staying to your roots keeps you in the same place. if i'd like to reminisced to how good the first Silversun album was i'd then include "Swoon" to add another 50min'ish of it's goodness.

The Chariot's "Wars and Rumors of Wars"
"Wars and Rumors of Wars" is the 3rd LP from The Chariot. It hasn't been released yet but you can listen to it on their Myspace. The Album comes out on My 5th which is merely a week from now. The Chariot has been numerously replacing their band members(besides the original member/lead singer) since their first album but constantly kept their style of sound all the way through Fiancee'(their 2nd LP). W.A.R.O.W. is the evolution of the band's distinct style of sound and it sounds amazing! i can now have a "metalcoric" album in my playlist this summer in which i used to have two years ago.

besides all these comebacks coming along...i might as well welcome forth what's been getting my attention of somewhat unusual upbringings.

Electronic Pop/Indie wasn't really a part of my taste but it's slowly growing in me and Passion Pit is making me appreciate it even more. i think there gonna be pretty big this year if new age/modern music is what's up right now. as much as i dont wanna compare them to MGMT which blew up last year then i'm gonna have to say that they're the new version.

this song/video gave me an idea of what they're so i downloaded their EP from lastyear.

as i dwell on the crazyness of the syncing of sounds of "The Reeling" before the release of their first full length LP which is gonna be called "Manners" in which will be out on next month. i shall keep my ears to "Chunk of Change" to properly get to know them a little better and make time pass by or amp myself up before the release(or leak haha).

since i've been losing my respect for new hip-hop/rap due the annoyance of autotunes and the progress of more r&b being pushed to be mixed with it. i'm actually vibing Rick Ross' "Deeper Than Rap" album!

besides beefing with 50cent(listen to mafia music), and getting crapped on for having an old job as a penetentiary warden in which 50's assuming as a cop! it doesn't even make any sense at all! but i'm siding with ricky ross on this beef because i feel that he's got a better flow & style of ryhming than 50 "potato head" cent. "Yacht Club", "Usual Suspect","Gunplay", & "Cigar Music" are some of favs on this because they're just that "gangsta" good.

materialistic things that i want

haha! i was lurking at the Thrasher website and peek through their daily update that they call the "Junk Drawer", and saw that Birdhouse Skateboards got a new website. an ad of Willy Santos(flip like me) with this pro board got me stoked because it looks so sick. it has an iconic image of a famous Filipino Boxer named Manny Pacquaio who recently beat Oscar De La Hoya a couple of months back. that adds yet another win against a Mexican/Hispanic boxer. in which is why they call him the "Mexicutioner" haha! it's also funny how he's always matched against a Mexican/Hispanic opponent.

Twitter Everything!

i've been twittering on my phone via text, for about two weeks now. it has been quite addicting even though no one really cares what i say on there. but it seems like it's been getting it's rise to be the next social interaction dynamo!

some emo's saved by twitter.

fully relate to this one because i was like this(twitter whore) on my first week of twittering.

oh wells you can follow me at http://www.twitter.com/Alveezy or lurk it for faster updates. it's also on the right-side/below the music player of this blogsite.

the summer heat is moving in

hot damn! it's been heatin since this month started. well there's been more outdoor activities going on as the summer draws near. to start things off we the dp went to a bank to wall ditch that would look like this(00:06-00:17 thanks mokelife!) but it didnt! instead it had some wild weeds growned at the bottom of the bank.

here's the annoying weed blockage and Alden baby'ing his camera.

we went back the next day to clean it up.

so after 40 mins of hauling weed and moving dirt, we got to skate it a little bit and got some footy for the video, that's been slowly losing it's progress due to some personal issues coming from everyone that's part of it.

in other updates, i managed to make a couple bucks off of this picture below with the help of Alden. it's a gift for my grandparents that my aunty paid me for.

went to the closing sale at Ritz and got some Film to add in my Stock.

and also developed my first roll of Kodak Gold 200 that i traded with Alden for a roll of Fuji 200.

Sunrise on The RoofTop of my House.

Tani's "Birthday/Tea party"

2 Haoles & 3 Asians.

Worst Contest ever.

Spring Roll

these are some of the images that got developed yesterday that i took over the past spring break. this year's was probably one of the best one's i've had in awhile.

it's always fun to be around these two (left: my brother, right: my cousin) because they cause so much trouble and just can't keep still. when they start getting into an argument and clinch their tiny fists' then you know that your up to see some hysterical fracas.

me & russel were over at the cantere's to get a deck because russel snapped his. we also came and checked out their quarterpipe that's still in construction(sorry no pic, because i only had my film camera) and took this moked-out portrait with reuben & justin's(the cantere's) dad's truck. that thing is a beast and that "Punchy" sticker is actually a company run by their dad and it's called "Punchy Gear Unlimited". if i remember hearing about it that it's some sort of an M.M.A local brand in maui haha!

it's a funny routine that just came to mind and it's how i always see sandi(to the rightside of leo) on the day/day-after she comes back from cali haha! she's almost as white as kira!(leftside...sitting really close to leo). met up there for a mini david tamaoka concert along with his wife & micah teruya at One Eighty Boardshop.

i only went to the beach once this spring break and it happened to be laniopoko too so i didn't even bother taking a dip in it because it's hella shallow and there's so much vannas!

NeWy TUESty's

As Cities Burn is coming out with a new album that i've been anticipating since they've announced that it was in production last February. it'll be their third studio album from tooth & nail records. i'm really hyped up for this because i really loved! their last album "come now sleep" which made me want more from them. they already have 2 songs up from it on their Myspace and they're gonna be releasing a couple more till the 21st of this month because that's when the album comes out.

here is the tracklisting for the album (kinda bummed that "gates" isn't in there, allthough it's an old-unreleased song with the old lead singer/screamer from their first album. but hopefully they'll have like a bonus EP or deluxe edition with that song & some other versions of the songs from the album because that'll be great).

1. ’84 Sheepdog
2. Errand Run
3. Into The Sea
4. Made Too Pretty
5. Lady Blue
6. Round And Round
7. Petty
8. Daughter
9. Pirate Blues
10. Capover

in other things music wise, if you live in maui and dont have anything else better to do(like me) or would want to go on a gig then you should come to this and bring some cao cao for the feast on April 17th at 6:30 pm at Keopoulani(noticed how they have "ua" between p & l on their banner?). Brethrens from The Cities Love You is throwing it and possibly a copy of their EP too in which you can listen to in their Myspace right now.

WHAT THE HAPS is

reaching website status almost! and blogging to a whole another level, if i improve my knowledge in CSS coding and other geeky shizz then it might just get legitimitely official. i've added a bunch of crap like twitter live updates, links to my flickr & picasa, and a music player on what i can't stop listening to. more additions rather than anything about me in the future! so lurk yourself out!

i'm clearly obsessed

and have spent the past hour watching bonus footage of this fine dime(off the "Don't Forget: Deluxe Edition" album & dvd). nonetheless to say that this makes me a creepo, she pretty much made my night(i went home early thats why!).

so here's some of it that's less disney'ish

JoBros' are still pretty gay

i love everything she does besides the way she plays her electric guitar(i'm just not that into feminales + guitar playing = unattractive to me)

what a seemingly fascinating young lady

photoshoot has got to be my fav part of the dvd

i'm now tempted to buy the album/dvd just for the bonus footage alone. even though i've made a fool out of myself tonight by protesting my obsession, i gotta say that i'm a big fan of everything about her. nightsies you lurker!
